Class Unparalleled – Carissma Jester

With the patience of a saint, an understanding heart, and an optimistic outlook, Carissma Jester navigates the grid with a smile, creating beauty and sharing it with those eager to brighten up their second lives. Her empire, Soul effects, is a wonder to stroll through, and her hunt gifts are always generous,

.

What was the inspiration for your shop name?

Soul Effects Started out with 3 Friends building together for fun, it was the effects of our souls being so intertwined. Both of my friends are still around but rarely build anymore for SE, so now I am the owner, they participate when needed or available.

Speaking of inspiration, where do you draw yours from?

I love the outdoors, and I own a marketing firm in RL, so I draw from both experiences when creating landscaping and business. I love to research flowers and create unique animated scenes to match real life. I find when I am driving around I look at flowers and trees and find ways to bring it into SL.

What first drew you to creating, and was it something you came to naturally? Any training in it?

I had very little training, a friend helped me learn some basics, what drew me in was just wanting to create things how I wanted them, not just buy them. I wanted to do something different, unique and something to enhance our Second Lives.

Over time, your style has evolved and grown. How would you characterize where you’re at, from a design perspective today?

With one word I would say .. Whimsical….I am searching ways to bring fun, innovative and unique landscaping animated scenes and designs.

What are some of your favorite pieces that you’ve created and why?

Over 100 fields of flowers, my best sellers are the 40×20 fields of realistic flowers. And my animated Scenes, like the couples picnic, Animated Couples Cherry tree with picnic, swing, etc.

Tell me about your hunt prize. With as little or as much detail as you want to give, how did you come to chose the design you went with?

It is Big…and so many love them I made a new design just for the hunt. Nobody else has seen it or can buy it yet..

If you had to pick one item that showcases your talents best, and really tells the world who you are, what would it be and why?

Just walk through the many fields of flowers, trees and scenes…I cannot pick just one field of flowers, but they are definately my favorite.

If this isn’t your first hunt, what drew you to them to begin with? What do you enjoy about them?

Well like any store hunts are a great traffic builder, and they are a labor of love. I have done dozens if not hundreds of hunts, I enjoy getting the messages from hunters saying thank you and how much they love the item and show appreciation, then you know they really liked it!

Introducing An Old Friend

Lokii Violet and I go way back. So when she agreed to join the FAR Hunt  Group, I was thrilled have the opportunity to work with her. Her work is dark, sexy, edgy, and sophisticated, and has long been among my favorites, Each item she creates is a dream, and reflects her joy and love for creating, as well as her abundant talent. Please join me in welcoming my old friend Loks to the FAR family.

What was the inspiration for your shop name?

It’s kind of silly really. I’m still a gamer geek at heart and some still call it by the old name, Malfean Visions. Malfeas was an umbral realm in the world of darkness games; take all the darker presenses of the world, the devil on your shoulder, that bad whisper on your ear, and ball it into an ethereal world beyond the physical world. Something dark, something spooky, and something alternative than the norm. I had to give a small tribute to sillier times.

Speaking of inspiration, where do you draw yours from?
Music first and foremost. Music’s a universal language, and I DJ on the side on here. Amazing what sound can do to stimulate the mind when you’re looking at patterns or real life.

What first drew you to creating, and was it something you came to naturally? Any training in it?
I’m a Vis Com freelancer in Real, so when a friend told me about SL I just kinda hit the ground running to try different things. I’d look up some basic tutorials and go from there, try new techniques with ones I acquired on my own with always toying in Photoshop.

Over time, your style has evolved and grown. How would you characterize where you’re at, from a design perspective today?
Far from stopping. =D It’s either a personal quirk or nightmare, I always have to try new things. I still love making shoes and will never give that up, but I used to be terrified of furniture and other bits and doodads, that’s the latest adventure.

What are some of your favorite pieces that you’ve created and why?
One of the most recent is the Snakepeel series of boots I did. I’ve got a soft spot for leathers and scale patterns and the way they turned out with the carbon fiber accent tickled me pink. But I think honestly one of my favorites is the Serenity fountains. Just something about them has a calming effect.

Tell me about your hunt prize. With as little or as much detail as you want to give, how did you come to chose the design you went with?
It’s stuff. And things. *nodnod* One thing about hunt prizes, I usually never give too many tells about it until right before a hunt, my VIPs usually get a sneak peek and early heads up, but I always try to play with different ideas whatever the theme may be.

If you had to pick one item that showcases your talents best, and really tells the world who you are, what would it be and why?
Man.. I don’t even know what it’d be to be honest. I make so many shoes I’d name one then a week later I’d have a new favorite and a new ‘me.’

My first was of all things.. the Twisted Hunt. The phrase that inspires hatred and fear in a lot of grid hunters both new and seasoned veterans, and it was the first one I was in as a merchant. It kind of set the standard to me from day one what to expect at full-tilt insanity, keeping with deadlines, and pulling tricks. It really made my store what it is and put me on the map, and with some amazing, truly amazing people on SL I probably would have never had a real opportunity to talk with and hang out learning new tricks of the trade.
Some people will say merchants only do it for traffic. I do it for the fun, and the chance to meet new crazy individuals. If they walk away with a good time I consider that a job done right. Plus it gives me new ways to test my mind on what to create which is always a bonus.

Spring Showers Hunt Is GO!

That’s right, i said GO!

Click on the Spring Showers page for Hints and slurls. and yes, it’s a bit messy – bear with me while we clean it up.

Please note there are a few skips, because SL has been eating inventory again and a few of the vendors need an extra day to sort though the hot mess.

Updated hint cards are sent out through the group OFTEN and the chat is ready for you to ask for help if you need it. I have seen many of the hunt gifts already and i have to say i am blown away by the quality, the detail, and the beauty of these prizes.

Happy hunting!

Spreading The Love

You’re going to want to clear a group spot for this one!

Huntaholics And More was founded by Gavyn Kirax, and is all about hunts, sales, Mania boards, Lucky Chairs… and is seriously one of the best groups I’ve been in that cover such a wide range.

From the group cahrter -

That’s right, we are crazy hunters. Grid wide, sim wide, store wide… you’ll find us on the hunt trail everywhere. Need help? Ask and we’ll do our best to help!

Hunting may be our common activity but we also chat, get together and pass around information about Midnight Mania boards, Lucky Chairs and sales.

If you are being paid to post MM boards, ads, promotions in groups, your posts are not welcome here without owner permission.

Please be respectful but do ask for hints and/or help.

If you are looking for upcoming hunts to join, as either a hunter or a vendor, these guys have it covered.

With over 600 members, and growing, the group is filled with friendly, knowledgeable hunters and hunt organizers.  If you’re participating in a hunt and need help, chances are there’s someone else in there doing it too and may be able to help. And if you know of other hunts going on, they’re happy to hear more about it.

To pass along upcoming hunt information, contact Gavyn Kirax, he loves hunts and would love to hear about yours!
